Using tools the WRONG WAY

I think we have a regional language barrier, in New England alternative tool uses would be considered Yankee ingenuity.
I always say jerry-rig... though I've heard older generations refer to it as another type of -rig.

I've used the discs from a bearing and seal kit for two other purposes:

1. Against a brake-caliper piston to push it in with a C-clamp, so that the clamp was not direct against the piston.

2. Against new front bearings inside a cup/container, also using a C-clamp, as a makeshift way of forcing grease between the rollers as the C-clamp is tightened. Just did this on the Ranger. Used one of those cheap plastic red cups, cut down, for the inner and an old prescription bottle, also cut down, for the smaller outer. Worked like a charm.

Also modified a pick from a pick set into a crude spark plug-wire tool. On a previous vehicle I had a problem with new wires because the connector inside the boot that is supposed to snap on the top of the plug was a little too far inside, so it wouldn't snap on or make good contact. A pick with a 90° bend on a point that was ground down so it wasn't sharp was able to grab the connector so I could slide it a little inside the boot while holding the boot. Haven't had this issue in a long time, but still have the tool.

Only my idiot friends misuse , and often break, my tools.

My pet peeve is seeing a drill w/ a bit in the chuck being used as a screw driver.

I have a pair of knipex wire cutters that are labeled "do not cut steel" I keep well hidden away from my friends, because surely they will try using them as bolt cutters.

My "buddy" once borrowed my Makita trim router, I should have asked why because he brought it back completely destroyed....trying to use it to mill out an AR15 receiver SMH.

Is there a wrong way to use this???

If it works, is it really the wrong way? Or is it redneck genius?

I was watching some guy online comparing some Knipex side cutters against some cheapo ones, he ended up cutting a 1/4" allen wrench with it not damaging the jaws... I've yet to get any Knipex stuff but I've used some and it's good stuff...

I'm also curious what you have against using a drill to drive screws, sure an impact is better but isn't always an option...

Using "extra features" of tools is just fine in moderation or within the limits of what you are doing, if you are like me and use mostly budget tools then I don't get sad if I damage them...

Wait... I read that to mean with a drill bit in the chuck. That's the thread winner if so. Do you just mean using a drill as an impact? That's all I do. I've never tried an impact cause the drill seems to do just fine for my DIY purposes... except for the few times I need the 1/2" impact. There are times that the drill tried to break my wrist though.

Siding plank as roof beam.

It looks like the jaw on that can be flipped over so that the alligator teeth are on the inside. Cool.
Yes it can. You flip it around to make it a sorta pipe wrench.
