I have 94 explorer front is lifted 4-5 inches unknown brand.
How much uptavel should I allow for shocks?
Pretty sure it's more than 1 3/4 inches.

I think you are asking about bump stop placement?

If so, it depends on what type of bump stops you are using.

With standard stock-type rubber ones, you'd want the axle to touch with something around 1" to 1½" of shock rod still exposed to allow for compression of the bump stop.
A little less can be allowed if you have thin low-profile urethane ones (maybe ¾"-1" or so). More is needed with larger (more compressible) bump stops.

No I wasnt. There are none.
I needed to know how much I need allow for uptravel on the new socks. Don't want to have to keep buying them caused they are to long and bottom out.

Are you still running the stock shock mounts? Or are you doing the F-250 shock tower mod or something similar?

You’re always going to blow the shocks if you don’t have bumpstops. I build my shock mounts last, right after bump stops. Once bump stops are on, I collapse the suspension so the axle is on the bump stops. Then I build the shock mounts based off the collapsed length of the shock. Your up travel is really set by your ride height then.
