Unused Electrical Connection Under Driver Seat?

I removed everything out of the interior of the cab to do some repairs, and I found an unused electrical connection plug under the driver seat (not connected to anything). Does anyone know what this electrical connector is used for?

This is a bit of a shot in the dark mixed with dusting off the cobwebs from memory... But I think the harness going to the transfer case on a 4wd may come through the floorboard nearby and plug into that?

My truck is a 2.5L 2WD with manual (non-powered) seats, so I don't know what it’s for.

Maybe the harness was there on all trucks of that year (or generation group) for power seats, weather or not that option was used. Kind of like how you can add cruise control easily on some base models because the wiring is there, just not in use.

That's what I was getting at.

Wiring harnesses are kind of a one size fits all deal in some cases. It looks like a connector for the electronic transfer case on a 4x4. The power seats only require power and ground, they're a self contained unit beyond that. My 98 4x2 has wiring for A/C, cruise, and electronic 4x4 (it did not come factory equipped with any of them)

The Aerostar AWD module is under the driver's seat. If you ever break a front axle or hub, disconnecting the AWD module under the driver's seat is the only way to get the RWD back. So, I tend to agree with that. It appears to have six connectors, so, if the colors were looked up for an AWD or transfer case module, that should match it up.
