unemployment rant

i recently left active duty also and filed online, but you have to mail in your dd-214 for active if your ng or reserve im not sure, didnt take but 2 weeks if you need some help PM me ill be glad to assist

At what government enity do you apply for unemployment?

i just got back from a tour of duty over seas, and although i have been offered jobs here they pay nowhere near as much as unemployment would. before i left i was barley able to pay my bills and there were a couple times i had to use the credit card to pay bills. all of my credit cards have since been paid off, and i am on track to get out of debt and build my credit back up. i also do plan on going back to school and using the available funds to help pay for it, so its not loke i'm one of these scumbags who uses the system cause they are simply too lazy to get a job.

Dude... Wake up.. Anyone who can file for unemployment has EARNED it.

I call B.S. on that....

Technically speaking, I won't argue that, but I'm referring to the guys who have kept their jobs only because they work for a company that belongs to a union. The guys who could really care less about being a productive, efficient worker and are just looking for a paycheck. Fawk them.

Unemployment IS NOT WELFARE.

I never said it was. When the majority of the people around my area sit and brag about being on unemployment, and still picking up under the table cash paying jobs so they can still get their unemployment, there is no reason that these people who cut the back out of the system should still be getting a cut of it.

Where do you work by the way? Maybe they are hiring? Instead of sitting on the computer bitching about people's unemployment, maybe read up on where the funding actually comes from..if you have time that is.

Alright first off all, this is the first time I've even logged on, let alone posted in months, so you can see that I really don't "sit on the computer bitching" as much as some people on here, so you can knock that sh!t off right now.

As far as knowing how the system works, I have a general idea. I don't have time to read the pages and pages of B.S. on the technicalities of it, but basically, it comes down to this. Everyone who legally works in the U.S. and pays taxes, gets their tax money thrown in a big pot. If you become involuntarily unemployed, then you are entitled to unemployment benefits, so long as you were working there 6 months before, and have lived in the state you are pulling unemployment from for over a year. I think you can get them initially for 6 months, then apply for like another 3 months after that.

This is given so that people can survive and is usually about 1/3 of their pay before they became unemployed. The time given is so that people can go out and find another job in the meantime, not get a cashpaying under the table job and fawk the system!

I work for Detroit EMS as an EMT. They ARE hiring. Here's a link. Anyone and everyone who wants, can apply.

I also run my own small carpentry business. Right now I'm doing a pole barn and this spring I have a couple decks lined up and possibly an addition. If anyone wants to be a laborer, let me know. I'll have you lifting materials, moving things, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, helping with measurements and possibly cutting materials, along with a lot of other general tasks. I start out pay at $8/hour for no experience with no high school education needed. Pay increases will be given according to your performance increases and workplace attendance. Guaranteed 16 hours a week. It's not great pay, but it's a job. Which is more than I can say I see a lot of people having these days. The funny thing is, I have a lot of people running their mouths saying they will work for me and relocate and whatnot, but really, it's one of those actions speak louder than words sort of deals, and I really havn't see a lot of action out of a lot of these people.

And I'm a volunteer firefighter/EMT-Basic for Clyde Township Fire Department. They are also taking apps. If anyone wants the number for the Clyde Township Fire Department, let me know. They give you $15 per run.

There ya go. Three places right off the top of my head.

i didnt read your entire post because the ignorance was overwhelming me. but as someone who has obviously never collected unemployment and has no idea how it works...i think you should "weigh out" of this conversation. you dont know what your talking about.

and again, automatically grouping any guys that are on unemployment in with the "government leech" types is...shall we say...just a little narrow minded :icon_thumby:

i think i speak for everyone in this thread when i say kindly STFU and GTFO.

I think the guys who are unemployed and purposely stay unemployed so they can get paid cash on the side are the ones zach is referring to. I have a customer at work who constantly goes on unemployment then finds cash jobs. It pisses me off, not only does he not pay taxes on the money he earns cash but the government still pays him. I think unemployment is great for those who need/deserve it, but I hate when the system is abused.

theres only so much applying a guy can do before hes applied to about everything hes qualified to do. especially since most places want you to apply online these days anyway (which i HATE doing...id much rather talk face to face).

That was my biggest problem, I had to end up calling back every place I applied to and actually talking to managers. The online shit gets old quick.

My uncle does something similar, his job usually lays off a number of people during winter months, and he always hopes he gets laid off(to draw Unemployment)

i dont know how people do that. my unemployment check is a fraction of what i was getting paid while i was working. its just enough to survive and thats about it (it just covers my rent, in fact...with enough left over for food).

I agree that only app shit gets old very quick I mean come on does the US want everyone to be that lazy where you dont even have to roll out of bed to look for a damn job. I hate it because you fill out an app online then you get a f**kin email back askin you to call number to speak to so and so for an over the phone interview and if you qualify then you will be contacted back to come in for a personal interview WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have got to be kidding me.. I hate how this world is going

I was making $13.70 before I got laid off, now I am not even getting minimum wage. I wouldn't wish this crap on anyone.

Just as I suspected, there are a lot of new job postings after the first of the year. I absolutly hate looking for a job, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Wow....easy there internet toughguy:shok:

Apparently when someone speaks out against a moderator on here, or against a post in general, the sand in your vaj really starts to show.....

What part of what I had to say was ignorant? Do you even know what ignorant means? Maybe you should look it up with all the time you apparently have on your hands, before you go throwing it out there again illegitimately. Ignorant means "not having knowledge of".....or being uninformed.

What part of what I said gave you the impression that I have no understanding of how the unemployment system works? I spelled it out for you in the 5th paragraph down....unless you didn't get that far since you apparently got yur panties in such a bunch over this and quit reading before the end.

Here's an idea. Maybe you should read someone's entire post before jumping to conclusions there dumbass. That would be ignorance in my book.

Please, point out to me where i grouped everyone on unemployment as the "government leech" type. I made it perfectly clear in my 1st post that not everyone is like that, so way to pull shit out of your ass on that one.

And by the way, who the fawk do you think you are telling people if they can or can't stay? The fawkin' E-police?

him being a moderator had nothing to do with anything. you pushed my buttons because I am on unemployment and by implying that all people on unemployment are government leeching loosers, your suggesting that im the same when i pride myself in not being labeled as such. this is the first time ive been out of work since i was 15 years old, im not proud of it, and im not milking it.

your post was ignorant because:

A. you said so yourself:

I have a general idea

B. unemployment comes from a combination of money that was taken out of your check while you were working, and your ex-employers pocket. YOU arent paying for MY unemployment...me and my ex-employer did/are.

Actually it's a little more complicated than that. True, you were contributing some of the money that you receive, along with your previous employer, but even then, there is still money added to that, which is taken out of everyone elses taxes. Don't think for a minute that the only money that you are receiving is money that you and they put in.

Granted, it's not a lot by any means, and it really doesn't piss me off at all when the general public actually needs that money and are still looking for work. But like I said above, and I'll say it again, the leech types that go out and work for cash while on unemployment and don't look for a new job are the ones who irritate the fawk outta me.

Apparently having a general idea is just not fawkin good enough anymore eh? Apparently I need to become some sort of expert on this subject.

And as far as I'm concerned, I never, for a minute implied that EVERYONE on unemployment was a leech. It just seems like there are a ton of people out there though who get on unemployment, and then you hear about them doing roofing for a guy for cash, or working at a farm for cash, or hanging drywall for cash. I know that at the root of the problem are bad businessmen who are looking to save a buck by not paying into the government, by offering cash jobs to guys who will take it, but it doesn't change the fact that they piss me off by doing that. Irregardless of if the employer is paying them cash, or they are the guy taking the money, they arn't helping the situation AT ALL when they partake in it.

I'm sorry your out of work. That sucks.

If you'd like, I'm still looking for someone to help. I know it seems far fetched, but if you need a job, you need a job. Let me know.

i worked for a ford dealership local to me.... few years ago i got layed off, they rolled my tool box outside for me to pick it up after hours....conviently for 10 mins prior and 10 mins after someone showed up and STOLE my 50k worth of tools someone shut down the cameras, i have not been able to get a job in a shop since becuase i cant even begin to replace all those tools

ive worked random jobs since then, worked at advance until i got fucked over there, and now ive been unemployed for a extended period of time in a state with the highest unemployment rate in the country
