unemployment rant

i tried to do it online, but i just got off active duty (was deployed) and theres nothing on the website for it. its a pain in the ass. im going to call the state rep tomorrow and throw a fit about unfair treatment of veterans and see where that gets me. if i absolutely have to i could go to a regional office, but its still a half hour away. there phone has been busy too for the last week.

They used to have a regional office here in Berwick but that closed years ago. Honestly I think the one job I would love having is to be one of those people that answers the phones for them because you know you're never getting laid off. I went through the whole thing with having to call them to reactivate my claim since the site did not support it. The best way I have found is to simultaneously dial their number with both my cell phone and home phone.

I feel for all of people on unemployment. I hope you all find work soon. I've been fortunate I came to within a cats whisker of either joining you or having to move 11 hours away. I know how it was back in 1990 when I had to go to the unemployment office it wasn't fun then and i'm sure it isn't fun now. As somebody stated earlier unemployment is at over 7% and these are the people that are still collecting unemployment there are more that still haven't found work and are no longer eligable for unemployment that are not counted in this number. I know that back in the late 70's early 80's I thought it was tough but this time I think it is even worse. I don't think people realize that we are in this mess together. It's not just the union guys againest nonunion guys. I know that the Lordstown plant started out being off for 2 weeks than it turned into they're off till Febuary. They have a section of the office that was nothing but vendors desks. Maybe 50 vendor reps. How many jobs do they represent. Akron General hospital just announced they were letting go 4 upper managers. I've rarely seen that happen.

I'm sorry for typing BS but I do feel bad for those TRSer's looking for jobs and I hope you find them.

Where did we find Zachis The Scold?

Does anyone find it just a wee bit fawkin' HYPOCRITICAL that a GOV'T employee (zachis) is SCOLDING normally hard-working people? Especially when the reason the hard workers are UNemployed is the heinous and criminal actions of a handful of Gov't and Wall St. elites?? :flipoff:

While IN GENERAL EMTs, FFs, and (most) LEOs are among the few gov't employees I respect, I'm willing to make an exception for sanctimonious "scolders". :thefinger:

The funny thing is, I have a lot of people running their mouths saying they will work for me and relocate and whatnot, but really, it's one of those actions speak louder than words sort of deals, and I really havn't see a lot of action out of a lot of these people.

Aw, you big handsome (part-time CASH) employer dude, you mean peeps won't RELOCATE for a "guaranteed" whole 16 hours/week? IMAGINE that! The NERVE of them. :icon_rofl:

PS: No, I'm not unemployed... yet.

conviently for 10 mins prior and 10 mins after someone showed up and STOLE my 50k worth of tools

i cant even imagine that kind of hell. what a way to kick a guys legs right out from under him...dicks.

i didnt give the ford dealer here the chance. rather then drive home (30 minutes) and drive the truck back into town (another 30 minutes), i brought probably very close to 800lbs of tools home in the back of.....my escort :D if i hadnt been so damn pissed i would have taken a picture.

oh! snap! :icon_rofl:

(zach, were good...but that was funny!)

You ignorant ****......

Way to assume that since I work in EMS and as a paid on call firefighter that I am part of the "big scheme to fawk you over". Wake up and smell the coffee Junior. Detroit firefighters and medics are busier EMS and fire wise than anywhere else in the country. We run just as many calls every day with less EMTs and buses to run on them with, than bigger cities like Cleveland, Chicago, and New York. On an average 12 hour shift, we get called out anywhere from 10-20 runs. That's more than one run per hour. The EMS system is failing. The average response time is atrociously high, due to how overworked we are. If you have one bus and 3 calls come in simultaneously, well 2 of those calls are waiting until we get done with the most important one first. That's how it is all over the city. Is it right? Fawk no. There's nothing I can do about that though.

So since I work for a municipality...(and yes, believe it or not, I work my ass off).....you're putting me into the "overpaid government employee" barrel since I am a public safety servant? What with my $15.80/hour that I make? HA!

Aw, you big handsome (part-time CASH) employer dude, you mean peeps won't RELOCATE for a "guaranteed" whole 16 hours/week? IMAGINE that! The NERVE of them. :icon_rofl:

Wow, way to totally take a job opportunity and trash it. You think you're too good for a job like this or something? I'm sorry I can't offer you more hours your heinous. What do you want in a job offered to you right off the bat with guaranteed hours? The red carpet pulled out with free donuts and coffee by the door every day you come in, a nice cozy work environment, and a real nice pension plan with full benefits and a $15/hour wage to match?

Before you go make ignorant assclown remarks, get your story straight. I take out federal, state, and local taxes, social security and medicare just like anyone else who's trying to run a legitimate business. Granted you might not make much after all that is taken out, but that's the way it goes when you're at the bottom of the totem pole.

I'm sorry every thing was handed to you and you have the luxury of picking and choosing jobs. Some people have to work their way up and can't be as picky as you in these hard times.

Dear Zach, you TOTALLY missed my point. I didn't AT ALL mean that you are anywhere near high enough up the .gov totem pole to cause the current DEPRESSION/MELTDOWN. Also, I TOTALLY RESPECT EMTs, their hard work, extensive TRAINING, and the stomach it takes to scrape people's brains off the asphalt and into your "bus". (I for one could NOT do it. It'd drive me to drinkin'...)

No, what's HYPOCRITICAL is... there's NOT much chance of being laid-off from A GOV'T JOB, is there? And we damn sure can't ALL work for .gov, CAN WE? (They tried that once--it was called the Soviet Union! :icon_surprised: )

I'm glad to hear you collect the legally required taxes, but you DID say it was not only PART-TIME work, but SEASONAL to boot, so yes, few men are going to relocate a FAMILY for that, especially if the unemployment INSURANCE which they PAID FOR, will cover their mortgage, and allow them to seek out FULL-TIME, YEAR-ROUND work, paying MORE than you are able to.

Cheers, hope this helps, carry on... good luck suppressing your inner guidance counselor/angry dad/scolding priest, lol. :icon_cheers:

seriously I have gone through all the calling and annoying pointless shit like "reaching a government office that 300+ people are calling at the same time as you" the key is you just have to list all the jobs you have worked on the website and the rough estimates of what you were paid while you worked there(this was in California). Then they just send you paperwork which you have to fill out while looking for a new job.
