I guess it has been talked about before but I am looking for info on HP and MPG gains on installing a 20% crankshaft pulley on a 96 Ranger 3.0 with 3.73 rear. I am looking at the ASP pulley because it is aluminum which will give me torque advantage over a heavy steel one. I have not found any other pulleys for this model. They list theirs at full charge at 850 RPM? Would I need to find an alternator pulley to keep my RPMs down at idle? Does anyone make pulleys for this model? I have done exhaust/air intake mods and am looking to increase fuel mileage.

Don't waste your money. Please.

Your flywheel weighs at least 10 lbs. Your crank pulley might weigh 3, if it's a "heavy steel one".

Explain to me the cost/benefit ratio of dropping weight off the crank pulley again. When I did the math that just sounded stupid.

Underdrive pulleys are only beneficial at or near redline, hence the reason NASCAR uses them. They are turning 8000 plus rpm.s for hours at a time. Are you gonna be driving your 96 at redline for hours at a time? No.
