what is the black box under the air filter?
it has 2 vaccum lines goin into it.

Goes to the intake heater. When the air outside is cold, that lets vacuum to a small vacuum motor to allow in some warm air around the exhaust.

It doesn't hurt performance at all. When you go WOT that valve will close so you are only pulling in cold air from the outside. It just helps drivability when cruising around.

ok. cause i got in a wreck today and there was some fluid commin out from what looked like under neith that box.

I can't remember any fluid hoses near there, but it has been a while. The radiator is pretty flimsy, could it be coolant?

idk. i was hit in the rear. and when i pulled over it was smokin under the hood. then when i popped the hood it was wet on the pass. side fender and looked like it was bubblin out from that box. i took the intake off and put a coldair filter on the end of the stock intake hose last month sometime.
