Two shops refused to align my truck today.

Junkie, I dont think a lot of people can "see it" on a few tools around the house that can align their trucks. Smart phone, smart cars, smart ass kids, and smart aligment racks has made a lot of people forget how to smarten up by dumbing down?

Smarten up huh? Sounds good to me.

Glad you got it done. Like others have said you can do toe yourself.I have used a tape measure for years. Now I have one of those cheap ebay deals, a little easier than tape measure.

Measure front and back of front tires, make adjustment, roll truck back or forward. And repeat until you get it.

Don't feel bad I got turned away by a Firestone last week with my 2010 VW Jetta.

Wow they claimed all your new parts were worn out LOL, sounds like they were really trying to serve you with an outrageous repair and alignment bill.

I had Les Schwab do the alignment on my B2 a couple months ago and they found a few items that needed replaced, the alignment guy actually had me get down in the pit so he could show me what was worn out and needed replaced, pointed out all the stuff he was going to do to align the truck, great guy, and extremely knowledgeable. I had called and talked to him on the phone and explained what was going on with the camber and he said he didn't think it needed new bushings just weren't installed correctly he was right previous owner just never had the camber adjusted and hadn't had it aligned after they screwed with it. Its almost dead on now, and the truck is 30 years old.

A lot of these shops now the people that work there are young guys that have never seen these TTB axles, and have no clue what they're doing. Plus many are lazy and just don't want to do the work but they sure want to bill you for nonsense parts.

I got turned away for a good month when I just did a leveling spring in the front of mine. I finally found a shop that would do it and when I got it back the negative camber was more than noticeable. It tracked straight and the toe was in order but that camber had to be remedied.

I decided better learn this for myself and built a what I call toe box. Just what it sounds like. A box to go around the front end on a level surface and measure the toe front to back of each tire. Works perfect and as far as camber and caster, the camber is set by eye and then checked by a pocket level on the hub. Caster takes a bit of driving and then coming back and adjusting a few times but its real easy.

Both my trucks track perfect and wear great. I am very happy at how easy it really was to learn how to self align because I self align at least one of my two trucks once a month just from off road abuse banging into stuff and the like.
