turn signal woes

so...wait.

you continuity checked the wire i ass u me d before going through the trainwreck of pulling the column apart and the switch.

jumper the wire to the bulb

I’d go back again to back tracing the wire. Started at the tail light and follow it into the truck. It should go along the tail behind the license plate, where there is a connector, and then up the driver side frame rail. You could pull apart the plugs and see if there’s power at the plug and repeat all the way up to the front of the truck if necessary. Might just be a dirty plug, but I’d also look for damage in the wire. And then I’m with @bobbywalter, jump the bad spot in the wire.

Do you have the old bulbs with the round brass base or the bulbs that are a flat piece of glass with a wire on each side? Either way, you may want to take a fin pick and scrape up the contacts to make sure you’re getting good contact, and bend them out a little bit to make sure you’re getting a connection to the bulb.

when i say jumper the wire to the bulb i am referring at the connector in question. this is if you dont have a meter...

these fail.

the connectors themselves in various ways internally.

if the bulb functions then its the connector.

if it does not, check the grounds and move to the next connector upstream.

starting in 99 the wiring on these trucks got revised from meh to dang it....2004ish it went full idiot.....it started with the gem systems in 95ish and then crap wire revision in 98 x-over to the idiot....errr smart junction box in 2004ish.

pathetic designed to fail crap.

for longevity....reliablity...and simplicity...we are in a downward spiral.

if, if, if, your 2002 is the same as my 2000....
the rear blink signal leaves the switch on pin 9 then goes to the junction box/fuse panel inside the left dash/door area.
fuse #3, BUT the signal only touches the fuse, it does not go thru the fuse. the trailer lights go thru that fuse. check the fuse blinking, it should blink for turn & be on for brake. otherwise its off.
then it goes to a big square connector C309 on pin 35. that connector is under the cab.
then it goes to a round 8 pin connector # C403 on pin 5. that connector is along the frame.
then continues to the bulb.

for a cheap fix you can tap the trailer connector left turn/brake signal and jump it over to the stop bulb.
assuming the ground is good. check the splice in the ground line.

hope it's the same , get ready to crawl underneath.

check your owners manual to verify the fuse #
.
