so im doing this build and im doing a explorer axle swap on a project and im getting rid of the leaf spring for some air bags( no its not a low rider its a lifted rig, i got air bags from a semi :icon_cheers: ) and going with a link set up... im trying to find the best way to link the axle to the frame... should i use the factory shackle and just strengthen it or should i do something else?

You talk of links and then you talk of shackles....which is it?

Shackles are for leaf springs...

Gonna have to clarify what you are doing exactly.

I think he meant use the forward leaf mount to mount his link off of:icon_confused: Maybe :icon_confused:

yes maybe using the forward shackle to mount the links. any ideas on that? lol sorry i should have explained it a little better

I wouldn't reuse anything stock if I was going to go through all the trouble of linking it...cut those off an start fresh.

ok, would you make something the would go in the stock location or would you do something different?

Typically your lower link mounts would mount to the bottom of the frame rails, not the sides.

i c, im new to the link set up.. i know how they work and all but ive never built one... now when mounting to the axle do you just weld on a pivot point or do u use u bolts and screw them into the arms?
