- I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
My grandfather had an entire room in his house dedicated to books and binders full of family history. He spent 15 years of his life tracing family both here and through Europe. He spent months digging through Ellis Island records. He has headstone etchings, newspaper clippings, old pictures, etc. He traced the family all the way back to the Roman Emperor Charlemagne. As far as I know, no one in our family has ever traced the family lineage that hard. I know there is Scot, Irish, English, Welsh, Austrian, and maybe some French in the family blood line but that is about it.
My uncle has all of that now, and I’ll probably be the next one to store it for the family when he passes. He didn’t just go back… he followed the branches forward and found distant cousins that are barely related.
