Hey there my 87 ford ranger 2.9L automatic was running good and recently stalled out at a light and wouldn’t start. Don’t seem to think its the fuel pump as you can hear it come on when you turn the key so I replaced the ignition control module today and it fired right up and idle felt good. Took it on a test drive and after about 20 min was sitting at a light again and truck stalled out. It’s not a hard stall it kinda just feels like the car turns off . Thankfully I was able to start up again, idle seemed okey and then as soon as I got to another light down the road and idled for a minute the car stalled out again. Started back up and was able to make it back home. Checked for vacuum leaks and didn’t notice any, checked the relays and they seemed to be pretty old and gunked with old grease, My next step is to replace the relays, distributor and fuel filter but thought I’d reach out and see if anyone can shed some light on what might be the problem before I start throwing money where I don’t need to. Thanks!
