Hi, everyone.
My truck is a 2.3 L 1988.

I changed the gas pump inside the tank and the gas filter; I also sealed a leakage in the small reservoir between the filter and the gas pump on the chassis. now the truck is not starting.
It does crank but that's all. I tried putting some starting fluid but it is still not working. (I added some videos so you can see what I did)

I tested the ECC and the Gas pump relays and they are both working well.

Next, I took the plugs and cranked the truck and the plugs had spark, though I thought it was not quite strong.

Video:

Then I checked the plugs and the sparking plug wires, those are the results:

1 cylinder.
Wire:
10,4 k ohms
34 inches long
Plug: 6,65 k ohms

2 cylinder.
Wire:
9,3 k ohms
30 inches long
Plug: 6,56 k ohms

3 Cylinder
Wire:
9,31 k ohms
30 inches long
Plug: 6,31 k ohms

4 Cylinder
Wire:
9,9 k ohms
34 inches
Plug: 8,5 k ohms

I think they might be good enough.

Next thing I did was checking the fuel pressure on the test port on the fuel rail. I took it off and turned on the pump, there was gas though I'm not sure it has pressure enough.

Any help will be highly appreciated.[/MEDIA]

you should have two pumps. make sure both have power and are on. the frame unit is the high psi. are you sure you put the hoses to the resevoir on correctly?

Hello, Bobby.

I marked reservoir hoses before taking them off to ensure I put them back correctly.
I'll check the high pump tomorrow to make sure it is working.

Thanks.

you know....with an 88.

this is highly unlikely, and you will see it easily on the truck tomorrow..

it is possible it only has one high psi in tank pump for the mexican market. and you put in the normal low psi pump. thing is the ranger in tanks high only pumps in the us market have a totally different sender...

the high pump is CARTER P90033

Thanks Bobby.
I checked the high pump last night and that was the issue. Just a badly connected wire down there. 💪
And about the differences between the USA and the mexican models... I dont know, haha, mine is a USA imported model.
Anyway, it is working, but I have now I have an idle issue, but that is for another thread:
