Truck hunt is still on, would you buy this?

In stock form the later 6.0L are a good engine if left stock.

I don't understand getting caught up on the milage game. I've never based a vehicle purchase decision or price point on milage. It's just not a good indicator of wear and tear. High milage often means lots of highway driving, which can put siginicantly less wear on a vehicle than stop and go driving can. IE - Low milage vehicles. Especially with a Diesel.

Anyhow, if the truck is in the as described shape I would jump on it. With all the problems the latest Navistar (international) Diesel engines are having, Im sure that truck would prove itself to be hella reliable even compared to a brand new truck. I couldn't see paying that price for it around here, but then again our trucks don't rust out in a few years...

Mileage is always something i consider...

It's just a little over blue book, I plan to offer him less, see what he takes. 150k is nothing for that engine.

The engine isnt what i was thinking about as much...i was more thinking about making sure bushings and everything are in good order...but im not a diesel person anyways.

It looks like a good deal to me. Diesels are always a little more expensive, and that is really low mileage for a 95. I wish I'd found that truck...

JUMP ON IT!!!!!!!!!!! after a test drive of course.

I'm really, really tempted too after thinking about it for a few days. Especially after riding in my friend 96 F350 with a 7.3L in it a few times. He said he's going to be out of town until this weekend but will get pictures as soon as he's back, we'll see what they look like and go from there.

$7000 for an F-250 (NOT a car BTW, LOL) that looks like that, has the 7.3, and only 169K on it? No real thought there. Try coming back with $5500 and haggle from there.

I love my F-350 with the last year of the 7.3PS engine in the series. I can tow virtually anything with it and hardly notice it's there (32' Fleetwood travel trailer dry weight is #10,000, loaded runs over #15K). Only things I've modded have been an AFE Stage 2 intake (better than K&N) and a Diablosport Predator tuner. I have a 5" turbo back exhaust to put on one of these days. Keep the 7.3 under 2000 rpm and the mileage is fantastic. Put your foot in 'er and you can move a #10,000 truck faster than most other cars off the line if you need to. Ricers in their civics LOVE a window full of diesel smoke as you blow their doors off.

168,000 miles is considered average for a 1995 based on 12,000 miles per year (12,000 x 14). Which means 165,000 is slightly below average/low miles. Looks/sounds like an awesome truck. If this was for sale when I was in the market to buy a truck I would have bought it (would have saved a couple grand too). If it is in the described condition and drives well I'd say go for it :icon_thumby:. Diesel is $0.05 a gallon more expensive than regular unleaded here (Diesel is $2.54 vs $2.49 for unleaded). I'm sure prices are going back up by the end of the year though.
