truck bed replacement

i have a step side bed on 02 ranger. i had a little problem over the weekend. someone couldnt figure out how to drive a car on ice, just so happed to be going do the same road at the same time pulling a trailer going to the duck woods. and they cliped my trailer, whick caused me to go out of control and i hit a guard rail. but its a good thing that i was there because they didnt end up in a ditch. be after they hit me they regain control and drove off. and im in the guard rail. so ne ways how much trouble is it to put a stright bed on my truck is there any moods i need to do.

easy...you need the bed, gas filler neck, and rear bumper. Six bed bolts, 4 bumper bolts, and a couple hose clamps.

thats what i thought but i called ford today. they told me that i couldnt it because the wheel base was different and some about the frame different

That sounds like a Ford Dealership I would stay away from. They don't know WTF they are talking about. If you find a regular bed for your truck it will fit. If you currently have a stepside on your truck then you have a short bed and any short bed will bolt on, unless you are wantinig to put a long bed on it. Then no it won't work. I have a 93 stepside on my 92. Ford wouldn't build a frame for a stepside bed any different then they would build a frame for a fleet side bed.
