I just put my canopy back on my truck and its hard to reach the stuff that slides all the way forward so I'm thinking about building some kind of truck bed organizer out of plywood, and I'm looking for ideas. I have a 2000 Mazda B4000 (same as Ford Ranger). I have the extended cab so my truck bed is about 6' long. I was thinking about making a simple box for the center with something to fit around the front and back of the wheel wells. Does anyone have any good ideas or photos of what to include? I do a lot of camping and going out to the beach so I will probably want space for tall stuff like coolers and propane tanks.

On my f150 flairside, I made some aluminum plate that bolted to the top of the bed rails so that I could use a regular size topper. That allowed me to have a 3/4" plywood shelf that was half the depth of the box. This shelf slid forward and back on the aluminum plate. It had angle iron front and back with the lip up. It worked really well for my construction biz. Perhaps similar would work for you?
