TRS 2021 Fall Off-Road Round-Up

Into the Rock Quarry...

Was there a speed limit?

Not that I know of, I just go as fast as it feels right. My truck also had to drive across two states to get me back home so I try not to flog it.

Everything in context. Guess I'm spoiled that way. As long as it still rolls, I can tow it...

As you can see in the videos, there are a lot of wooded areas with limited visibility and numerous trail intersections. Going fast in these areas not only increases your chance of damage from obstacles, but also increases the likelihood of collisions with other vehicles. Things were faster out in the open dune areas.

And the ATV's/Dirtbikes in the dunes scare me quite frankly. It can be pretty chaotic out there.

I don't want anyone plowing into the side of my truck any more than I want to run over somebody.

A pickup in a land of dirtbikes feels kind of like an oil tanker in a sea of speedboats.

Looks like I shouldn't have made the U-turn at the sign that said entering quarry.

I don't know how your truck was acting on 3 shocks. The road back there wasn't too bad. There were one or two spots that were slightly rougher than the first trail we did that morning. We would have gotten you through. The rock quarry is a fun area.

It was drifting to that side on turns. But fairly well. I ended up stopping on the way home and taking the other one off to balance it out... Scared me on the interstate with the whole truck swaying like a trailer loaded to tail.

The only speed limits I remember were 5 mph and 15. 5 was for the campground and the parking lot area. 15, I think was on the trails. For us, 15 mph would have been a real rough ride. So, it may have been more for the SXS and ATVs that buzzed around like locusts everywhere.

At 15 MPH, my SxS was a smooth on those trails as a Ranger on the highway.
