Tried a slightly different way to bleed a M5OD clutch...

I tried a method we use with bicycle disc brakes, and it worked great. I think it may actually be the easiest method overall. It's similar to the method described in the sticky up top, but does not require you to push the fluid back in.

What I did was crack the bleeder, and attach a clear hose. The hose I used was the tip of a super glue bottle pressed into some clear tubing I had laying around. Fit very snug in the bleeder valve so no concerns about air or the line falling off. Other end of hose goes in a fresh bottle of DOT 3.

Put another hose in the resevoir pressed firmly into the hole.

I then used a transfer pump to draw the fluid through from the bottle. You could use a vacuum pump or even just suck the fluid through. With the transfer pump you're going to have to stop, "reset" the pump to pull the fluid, reattach, pull the fluid through a couple of times until you've got all new fluid straight from the bottle in the system.

Sucked all the air right out, and refilled the system with all new DOT 3 in a few minutes. No need to force the fluid back through or gravity bleed, etc.

Clutch feels great and the trans has never shifted better. :icon_thumby:

Thanks for the tip :)

Nice, thanks, that is a great tip. I've had good luck with gravity bleeding but occasionally there is one really difficult one that this would help a lot with.

I have tried a very similar method. I used a hand held vacuum pump though. It works well unless you have a dry line. If the fluid line or the master is dry when you start I have never been able to get all the air out this way.
