What type of fluid to use?
It is empty. So how much fluid goes in?
Can I fill it from the top of trans? I have the stick removed.
I'm doing a clutch job.

The M5OD uses Mercon ATF. It can be filled from the top, which is how I usually do it, ust make sure you have the fill plug out so you don't over fill it.

I think it takes about 3 or 4 quarts. Pretty sure it's not more than 4.

i changed mine a couple montha ago and im almost certain it was less than 3 quarts. Which surprised me

I think the 4x4s hold more fluid though. The last time I had one open and had to fill it from dry I think I actually put in almost 5, but the counter on the dispenser was known to be inaccurate.
