hi all I'm new here but I have had my ranger for a year or so.
I enjoy my truck and don't want to lose it, but the other day I blew my transmission. I can't not find one up here in south coast MA.
The only thing I can find is a 4x2 tranny from a similar ranger, however I have a 4x4 and want to retain the 4x4.
I have been searching and I've noticed that all rangers have the same transmissions, with that in mind.
I saw on this page the pictures of the two different transmissions and from what it looks, on the rear of the transmission of the 4x4 and 4x2 there is a flange.
It appears that they can be switched.
Long story short can you unbolt the rear of the trany and switch the casting around the output shaft of the trany to the 4x4 rear to accept the transfer case bolt up adapter?
Has anyone used a 4x2 tranny and converted it to a 4x4 trany?
By the way we are discussing standard 5spd.
