Hey all, I was wondering if somebody could help me out with this. Basically, I will be needing to transport 3 street bikes to the track in about 3 weeks from now. I have a 2002 2.3L ext 2wd manual ranger and would like to know what the best way to transport these would be. I'm thinking of 1 in the bed, and 2 in a trailer. Would this work at all? I would be the only person in the truck, as we will have another car that would take 2 people plus equipment. The bikes each weigh at approx 400-450lbs and the trailer is a kendon unit, which weighs about 200-300 lbs. Thanks!

You might be alright. I'd avoid hills, make sure your brakes are good and maybe get some better springs.

It will tug that no problem. I'd put one in the bed just for traction in case you have to stop hard. If u put all three on the trailer and nothing in the bed it might push the truck through an intersection when trying to stop...

yeah ...... I tow that much behind the wife's PT Cruiser.

You'll be good. 1500 Lbs for the bikes, another 300 for the trailer, you're at 1800 Lbs total, with 500 of that on the truck.

I've gone a bit overboard with a 2200 Lb tent trailer and it pulled alright, just don't think about setting any speed records, LOL.

2000 Lbs is Max according to my rear bumper, so I was stretching the boundaries a tad.

1994 ranger 2wd, 4.0, 5 spd manual. And I REALLY took my time on that camping trip, driving like a total granny with the heavy TT behind me.

2000lbs max bumper capacity, if you had a Class III hitch that number means jack shit.

Awesome. Thanks for the replies. I have a buddy who pushed his old VW van to the limit by pulling the same trailer with 2 bikes on it, and carried 2 people with gear.

I won't really be able to avoid hills with this as the the most direct route sends me up a hill where I normally downshift on an truck bed.

Since the previous owner of my truck, the infamous Mr. Jack Schitt, did not fit a class III hitch, And neither have I, then indeed, The 2000 pound weight limit does mean something.

What I was trying to tell the OP was that hauling a 2200 lb tent trailer worked ok with easy driving, so he should be more than fine with only 1800 lbs total, and even better if 500 of those pounds are in the truck and not on the trailer.

You need Canyon Straps for sure for all 3 but your configuration for hauling them is perfectly safe. Add extra time for stopping and pay attention to your surroundings.

Cool. I'm going to be using a baxley chock for the bike that is being hauled and a kendon 2 bike trailer. Great equipment. Cost us a good chunk of change
