Efficiency and handling mods for street?

@superj - turning the torsion bars does not change the spring rate, it just lowers the suspension and reduces the travel (unless you cut down the bump stops), so it does not make it softer. The spring rate is a factor of the bar material, diameter and length.

Maybe these are just turned up so its rougher now? Eitherway, i would much rather have springs but those kits to convert are kind of hard to find nowadays

@superj - a torsion bar is just a coil spring that was never coiled up - the spring action of either is due to the twisting of the steel in the spring as the spring is compressed. The advantage of the coil spring is that it can be wound in such a way as to be non-linear, which makes the ride softer for small amounts of compression and gets stiffer as the amount of compression increases, while the torsion bar has to be linear the entire range. The advantage of the torsion bar is that it saves space.

T-bars take up way more real estate than coils in the grand scheme of things.. they also give you more brackets to get hung up on off-road. Glad to see they've gone the way of the dinosaurs for the most part.
