Transmission


I just bought my ranger. It a automatic and it has no reverse. I was told it common. Is it true and why?

Its time to rebuild or put a good used transmission in
 
Most 1998 ford rangers didn't have trans problems but it depends on if its a A4LD or not
 
The guy I bought it from just had it rebuilt less than six months ago.

Sounds like something was botched during the rebuild. Possible that it was a "soft parts only" rebuild. Which apparently is a fancy way to say new bands, seals, and filter. When what it really needed was something major.
 
1998 had the 4R44e in it.
