Transmission fluid leaking from radiator connections.

Just replaced my radiator on my 02 Ranger. Like the title states my new radiator is leaking transmission fluid from the radiator connections. Not the metal hoses connecting to the radiator, the fluid is leaking from where the adapter screws into the radiator.
I have tried to; un-attach and re-attach the transmission lines to rule out misthreading the lines. And it still leaks.

My questions is there supposed to be a gap between the plastic housing and the transmission cooling system?

Also is the connection supposed to have thread sealant and and a rubber gasket instead of a washer?

i bet there is or the crush washer won;t seat properly. maybe roll a bunch of teflon tape on it for now till you get another adapter that seats better, or another radiator

Yes, there would be a gap between cooler and its protective cover

The seal for the fluid is at the flared end of the metal hose where it presses against the surface/shoulder inside the cooler, as you tighten the nut it should press the flared end tight against that shoulder surface
The flared end is softer metal so should adjust to match the shoulder

Make sure shoulder is clean no ridges, and flared end is the same

Tape on the threads can help seal a small leak but should not be required normally

I'm exchanging it. It leaked out all of my transmission fluid.

This is why I skip those radiator tranny coolers and go with an aftermarket cooler in the first place...far less prone to leaking.

...And like dvdswan says hope it didn't ruin the transmission. If so I'd be sending the bill to whoever that radiator came from.
