What all would a person have to change to put a 97 AOD transmission in to a 94 AOD Ranger ?

Thanks

The AOD/4R70W won't fit a 4.0 as just a bolt in. Also 1997 will be computer controled and the 1994 is hydraulic.

I think Conyers73 was asking about replacing the 4 speed automatic in his '94 Ranger with a 4 speed automatic from a '97 Ranger. Yes, he specified AOD but he specified AOD for both vehicles. Technically any automatic with overdrive is an AOD (Automatic OverDrive) but Ford used "AOD" for a specific family of automatic transmissions.
As for the swap I don't know.

Ok, won't work as the 1997 is computer controled and 1994 is not. Not interchangeable.

Thanks for all your help transman and tinman.

I appreicate it.
