hey I just replaced my clutch 85 bronco2 2.8L manual. it is about 1/2 an inch away from the block and you can tell it is not lining up with the spindle teeth in the middle of the clutch. any tips or solutions? I have gotten under it and man handled the shit out of it and it just won't slide in that extra inch or so.

If the splines aren't mating up then rotate them...

If you have the pilot in but the splines won't go together, put it in gear and rotate the output until it drops in.

Like mentioned above, put the trans in gear and rotate it a little, then crawl under and wiggle it around a bit, and repeat till it goes together. Also make sure you are going in straight, look at the gap at the top of the bellhousing compared to the one at the bottom. Most of the times I've done it, it will take a good half hour of messing around with turning the shaft, going up and down with the support jack, and jiggling around the trans till it goes in right

K so I ended up getting some bolts in and just bolting it in place, I tried to tighten all the bolts evenly and felt no unusual resistance. any foreseeable problems with this?
