hey guys i have a 1994 2wd ford ranger 4.0l.

im in the process of converting to 4x4/sas and im a little confused on a certain subject. i wanted to go ahead nd swap the transmissions now so i dont have to later.

what i do know is that for my 4wd conversion i will need to get an entire new transmission, a A4LD tranny just like mine, except out of a 4x4.

what i also know is that to match up with that transmission i will need a bw1354 transfercase.

My question is what is the difference between bw1354 mechanical and electric? is that for manual or automatic? if so i would need a electric transfercase correct?

finally, will the 4x4 transmission crossmember work on my 2wd?

all help is appreciated

thanks,

Cody

the trasnfer cases will fit either tranny aslong as you get all the wiring(electric) or shifter assembly(manual) for the swap. I prefer the manual t case more reliable no wiring gremlins to chase down.. the tranny crossmember should still be in the same place but a tape measure will tell you for sure..
