ok guys first of all i have a 93 ranger xlt supercab 2wd it is 3.0 slow lol wat ever you wanna call it but any how i wanna drop in a 4.0 and what ya know i lucked up and found a 94 ranger supercab up the road from me for 500 bucks been layed up on its side but still runs and drives and its a auot trans so my question is will my 3.0's man tranny bolt up to the 4.0 and if it does can i use the cpu out of the 94 4.0 truck as well as the engine harness or would it be easier to just convert my 93 over to an auto trans

3.o trans wil not work with 4.0, the 2.8,2.9,4.0, all share the same bolt pattern but the 3.0 does not. if using a manual, the 4.0 auto tranny cpu will not work either, would have to find a manual 4.0 cpu.

The 4.0 auto controller will work with the manual. You get a light, but it works fine.

The computer for the auto trans will probably work, but it will probably throw a code because it can't "see" the trans.

But you need to use a 4.0 trans...

You also have to use all of the wiring for the 4.0 and a 4.0 computer to convert it, unless you like playing with wiring...
