Trans swaps

I took a 1996 Ranger auto trans 2 wheel drive and swapped in a 5.0 and trans from an Explorer, I now have the bad engine and reportedly good trans from the swap.

The 16 year-old across the road has ‘91 4 wheel drive with bad a/t trans. Is there any way to use the one to repair l/replace the other? I understand that the transfer case would have to be moved but is the tail shaft long enough and will electronics work?

Best solution would be to trade yours for a good 4X4 A4LD.... Your trans would require a full teardown to convert it to 4x4 and at that point you are better off just rebuilding his or using a good one from the junkyard.

Thanks, just trying to find a way to help on his first truck. Perhaps if we sold the leftover parts from mine it could go to the rebuild in his?
