best choice ive ever made with this b2. super happy.

got a few questions of course. this trans makes a loud whining when driving except fourth gear. its pretty quite. im guessing its just cuz of its age. i just need to know if i need to be worried. unknown miles, no grinds shifts fine. just whines loudly. and its got that funny curved shifter, will the straight shifter fit or should i just straighten this one out

Lol.

Shipping to 37184? I'll ship my straight shifter back for free.

This made me smile...Apologies if that wasn't your intention.

Not fair! :)
:worthless:

Lmao. If you don't know what the curved shifter looks like then you would be worthless. No biggie. I'm sure some one has an answer. And it hard to send a pic of whining noises

Cheap shot. Pics of the project would be helpful to others

What transmission? I did an M5OD swap in a 92 I had years ago, it had the same whining, put 20k on it without issue. Its a sign that someone let it get low on fluid and the bearings are going bad. So it could use a rebuild. The reason it doesn't do it in 4th is because thats 1:1, so its riding on a different set of bearings (I'm no expert so correct me if I'm wrong)

thanks zman. lol wheres the like button on your reply.

i thought of something like that but i wasnt sure. i plan to do a 4.0 swap next year. i have my 4.0 outside in a donor 94 explorer. but im going to upgrade the motor before i put it in.

do you know anything about the shifters if i can swap out a straight one from a newer model.

I missed that part...I think the only way you're going to get a straight shifter for that trans is to make one. Nothing just swaps. Modifying shifters isn't hard if you have a welder. I modified mine so I can use beer tap handles, which I don't suggest, believe it or not they don't hold up well as shifters, or at least yuengling ones don't LOL.

beer tap handles is a nice touch to bad they dont hold up. me and my brother were thing craftsman wrenches. and makes one into a handle. i got a welder so i can at least try.
