I have a 95 ranger 4.0 v6, with a 5 speed manual trans. I noticed a slightly different noise coming from the front end, i thought. But now i realize its coming from the transmission. The shifter would start to move around in a circular pattern a lot, like it was going to fall out from the bottom. So i got it home and im trying to decide what to do. It has been rebuilt by the previous owner and it has around 100,000 or so on it, along with the engine. And im wondering if it is possible to convert it from manual to auto? If anyone could help, that`d be great. Thanks

Sounds like maybe it needs new shifter bushings if the stick is loose and moving around.

You'll need two pt# 1L2Z-7228-AA "Springs" from your local Ford dealer (yes, "springs" is what it's called on the package, don't ask why lol. They should be blue in color.

Last time I bought some a few years ago they were $4 & some change each, though I've heard some reports from others that vary.
