So I discovered on my 92 Explorer I am missing the bolts from the trans cross member to the transmission itself. Does anyone know what size those bolts are so I can get replacements? Its a 5 speed if that makes a difference.

M12. 1/2 is a hair too big, 7/16 is too loose.

Thus is for both the bushing and non bushing crossmembers. The former takes bolts longer than available in a hardware store, but iirc 92 was before any RBV got crossmembers with bushings.

That would be for the transmission mount on the crossmember? Trying to find the bolts that attach the transmission mount to the transmission itself. I think I worded the title wrong :dunno:

The Mitsubishi FM146 I have here looks like it takes M12-1.75 bolts to bolt the trans mount to the trans. I think they should be the same size for the M5OD (I seem to recall I reused them when I did my swap years ago anyway).

I'll change the thread title for you.

thank you 4x4 Junkie I will give those bolts a try.. I just now got my clutch delivered to the house :)

All the transmissions in RBV's that I've seen were 1/2-13 thread.

Indeed it is ½" -13.

M12-1.75 screws into the hole about 4-5 turns, then it binds up. I guess I must not have threaded it far enough in to realize this.

Hopefully no bolts were bought yet, oops :icon_twisted:

Lol I did buy bolts, That is the thing that I find to be a huge pain.... gotta figure out what will be metric what will be sae......... its all bolted back together and running, been trying to work out engine bugs now

Well, fortunately this wasn't a Mars orbiter mission lol.

Glad to hear you got it together.

Yeah right, Main bugs is a little popping out the exhaust at low load, idle. I think the miss cleared up with MAF cleaning... still at about 11mpg .. NUTS
