OK, Ive been coming here for a few years now, and finally registered. I love the site, but I am confused about something. I happen to have a bw t-5 trans out of my turbo coupe, I have the m5od in my 94 sport, (reman bought last year) and I bought a donor 91 explorer that has a nicely working a4ld auto. Ive read a lot on these, and I still don't know which is the best/strongest. I'm getting ready to replace my axles (thanks to a slick Michigan road, high curb, and remotely placed telephone pole last December), while I have it down I want to go ahead and make a few other changes, and the trans is always a consideration in these projects. All right, let the opinions fly, but especially you mechanics and engineers...keep it civil fellas, Ive read a lot of these threads.

Then you know that the a4ld is junk....don't know much about the T5, the m5od is pretty good.

A4LDs are decent IF they're maintained (fluid changes!) and kept cool, M5OD are really good and reliable, and I don't know anything about T5s.
