any guys built a set of traction bars? wanting to see some pics of em, lookin for some designs for em, where to mount on the axle and frame... and how long to make em, all the good stuff :yahoo:

give it time. You only gave it 6 hours....be patient. or....search.

I have seen a set of flame slappers on a drag ranger before........

I think what you want though is like the ladder bars sled pullers run? I had a set on a one ton that were 6.5ft long (they weren't ladders though, just traction bars) a single pipe taken from axle to frame.
Just remember to strap or chain them up, if they fail......... you don't want them to dig in and catapult you to your demise.

yeah i don't want the slappers, i'm looking to build like the ladder bars. built a set of rock sliders already, but i've seen a lot of different ways that guys hook em up to the axle. do you know which way is the best?(weld directly to the tube, bolt in with the leafs, etc...)

i didn't even think about chaining em up or anyting thanks for the heads up:icon_thumby: well for an ext cab ranger how long would you build em? i was thinking 3 1/2-4 ft... or however long it is to about 6" behind the transmission crossmember.

Mine were mounted directly inside the leaves with a homemade U clamp, and grade 8 bolts and lockwashers (use those)
under the springs can be an issue with spring compression (u don't want to hit)
but also you have to watch brake lines very carefully.

James Duff bars....help out ALOT and a very simple design that could be made at home. Pretty darn resonably priced at about $100 a set. I eventually plan on running a ladder type setup using nice heims and stuff, but there's really no need for it yet. You still have plenty of axle travel with this style that I am running now.

i have been running a set of the duff bars for about 6 months. they work pretty well for the cost. would recommed them to anyone.

yeah i'm looking at building a nice set, with heim joints and everything. i've heard guys say they broke those james duff bars... at least if they wheeled much with em. i'd rather have mine hold up to some abuse haha.

could i hook em up differently to the axle tubes outside of the u-clamp?

I've been humming and hawing about a set of duff bars, want to wtire up a little review? $100 seems fine for the bars but I'm sure shipping would be a killer to me. Why do I gotta live so far from everything:bawling:

Actually, I wrote the James Duff company, they said $20 to ship to Canada.

The picture is really big so I linked it instead of using the code.

$20 awesome! I wrote them a while back and didn't get a reply. Going to look a little more into these then.

I used to wheel hop like crazy with the locker in the back. I don't anymore. Tires just stick and grip the road now nicely. How's that for a review?

Furthermore, I've had them on and off and on and off alot over the past 2 years of me having them. Everytime they're off and before I was locked, I couldn't tell I was spinning the tires in rain, but Im told I was. After the bars when on, virtually no tire spin and when it does spin, you can actually tell. In rain and on gravel is when you really notice the advantages in an open/limited slip setup.

when you're wheeling have ya had to worry about those bars hitting stuff? cause i've got some axle wrap/wheel hop, thats the biggest reason why i'm wanting to do the traction bars, just dont wanna pay 350 for ladder types that hook up to the axle tubes.
