toyota 8in

you know....i was just thinking....there is a way it cold be done that wouldnt cost u too awful much either....

follow me here

the bolt pattern on a yota 3rd is perfectly round, meaning once the axle was flipped you could still install the third right side up, the axles would line up and everything.

you would nee to cutout the front of the diff housing where its molded for the ring gear and carrier and flip it 180deg

and you would need to get the knuckles cut off and flipped 180 to match, and there u have yourself a drivers side drop yota solid front axle that will opil properly, steer correctly and never leave u stranded.

little to late i already switched my yota for a 44,but maybe i will buy a yota axle in the future and do this if it works replace the 44 with it so its different than everybody's.thanks the the tip.

i got one im goin to be trying it on, so ill keep it updated

Stock toy axles are way too narrow for rangers, I think they're something like 55" wide. I put toy axles on a sidekick once and was surprised to find out they were like 1-1/2" narrower that the stock 'kick axles.

With a diamond housing, custom axles and longfields you could have an axle that would work, but thats alot of $ for an axle that's not any stronger than a dana 44. IMO

But "flipping" a toy axle would actually be a cool project. I've seen flipped toy fronts used in the rear of buggy's to get rear steering and a pumkin on the pass side to match the front. It'd be an awesome for a light buggy, but not worth it for an RBV.

uh......you are aware that a toyota front axle is CONSIDERABLY stronger then any d44 ull see out on the trail, what d44 do u know of that stock will hold 40's wihtout breakin a sweat.....also, the toyota housing has CONSIDERABLY better ground clearance than that of a d44, and u would only need to run rims with a bit more offset on either side to get u back to stock width, ive already thought it through

Uhhh... no.
A stock toy axle is much WEAKER than a D44 untill you start throwing some coin at it (do you know what a Birfield joint is?)

dude, u can run 40's on a stock yota front rear and wheel its ass off, ive owned too many toyotas, stock for stock, a d44 has nothing on a toyota axle. its called keeping the wheel straight, and i know about the birfield eliminators, and lognfield axles, been there too, my old yota had a set of longfields on it

Im sorry but this is not correct. Stock toyota birfs break very easily. Hence why Longfields came to be. Toyota guys were breaking birfs left and right and Bobby made the Long birfs to fix the problem.

you cna grenade axles left and right with a d44 w/ 35's i dont know a SINGLE guy with a toyota that will break birfields with a 35" tire

Toyota stock birfield - 3,700 ft. lbs. before failure
Longfield 30 spline 4340 Toyota super set - 9,000 ft. lbs. before failure
Stock Dana 44 inner - 5,000 ft. lbs. before failure
Stock Dana 60 inner - 8,300 ft. lbs. before failure
Yukon Dana 60 35 spline 4340 - 11,000 ft. lbs. before failure

Tested by bobby long himself.

not the numbers, in real world applications, numbers show what testing says not what really happens out in the rear world, when u can show me a toyota on 35's that breaks as much as a truck witha d44 front on 35"s then ill back off my point

i know that the axles arent supposed to hold up better, and i dont know how well they do in rocks etc, but in mud ull break a 44 before a yota axle all day long
