Towing with ball on bumper

For what its worth, I have just started towing a 5 x 8 trailer with a 610# atv
my 06 has a 4 cyl, 5 spd, total weight is less than 1700# I used the Bumper for 2 weekends. Truck has done well, It is flat here on the Texas Gulf Coast, no hills, I've run it up to 65 on I-10 to keep up with traffic, Have had no Issues, It lacks POWER.
for sure, but it will do the job, my clutch doesn't slip either. Just don't get in a hurry.
I would not attempt anything any heavier with this truck, But Today
I did get a good Deal on a class 3 hitch, I plan on installing it tomorrow,
I much prefer Frame mounts. Stock bumpers are flimsy.

What would you say is my weight limit with the 94 Ranger 2WD manual trans?

I'm planning on buying the hitch. I looked and it's about $150 on fleebay.

thats what the owners manual is for . .. .trust it. engineers are smart :)

Didnt see this anywhere, but a receiver hitch lets you turn sharper without damaging the truck with the trailer. Ball on bumper severely limits turning radius, and destroys license plates.

I towed my drag car on the bumper of my 97 Ranger 2wd step side reg cab 4cyl 5spd........ it did fine.

It was towing the F-250 that I went across a rough hilly area in a pasture that my bumper got twisted into an S bumper.

And tailgates if you miss the ball

my box trailer is 1,000 pounds empty and my biggest problem is wind resistance, granted its a tall trailer (8' overall height) but it has a V-nose and i have a cap. with a 4.0 , 3.73 gears i get arond 10-12 mpg while pulling it @ 55 with only about 500 pounds in it. i would never use the step bumper to pull from. and consider brakes, if there is one weak thing about the ranger chassis, its the brakes. they do fine on a empty truck, but load it down or be hooked up to more than 1,000 pounds of trailer and they just dont do the job as well. sure you can pull it. just be well prepared for all the aspects of towing.
