torque converter

well i worked on it some more today , i got all but one trand bolt in , i am having a problem with the trans bolt on the left , that comes from the trans side , i got it in , but then about halfway it bottomed out , and i know it came out of there , any ideas

and i got the starter in , just hooked my chain to the front of the engine and lifted as high as i could with the engine and trans together , i actually started picking the front of the truck up:D:D

hopefully will get more done tommorow , this girl i am talking to wants to see and hear the beast , and i want to be able to drive my own vehicle

if she wants to hear something really neat, fire it up for her with the manifolds unbolted :shok:

i had to try that with mine after i sawsall-ed the y-pipe off to install my duals. i drove it around the block and got many weird looks.

well , i could do that , i told her the other day that i would take her on the test drive with me , but she might get scared of my driving , she said her dad and brother are bad enough , her bro used to have a fox body 5 spd gt mustang

but , any ideas on my bolt problem ?

is the bolt going in by several threads at least? you can usually hold the bolt up next to the hole and compare its length to the bossing in the engine block to see if the bolt is too long. hit the hole with some compressed air to make sure theres no gunk in there.

ok , i will try that tommorow , i know it will go in , it turns in by alot of threads , all the other bolts went right in , except this one , and i know that this bolt cane out of this hole , i will have to see tommorow

well i got the engine in , and everything is back together , one problem , i am getting fuel but no spark , any ideas , oh yea , i put a new coil , plugs and wires on in july

wow man...its been one thing after another with this swap :shok:

do you have power to the PCM? is your engine ground strap attached? all vital sensors plugged in?

every single sensor is plugger in , i checked 3 times , i do not know if i am getting power to the pcm , how do i check that and the strap is attached , but not very well , the bolt it goes on was a PITA , we got it on there , but not very tight , any ideas

fix your grounding strap.

check the PCM relay under the hood, make sure its kicking on.

ok , i will have to try that in the morning

and , i do not know if this would make a difference , but i used the cam and crank sensors that were on the engine , the engine is from a 98 , the truck is a 2000

i dont think that should matter...unless the '98 had a bad CPS already....

you MAY have to have someone with an OBDII scanner run a self test on the truck to see whats not letting it spark.

well how good of an obd scanner we talking about , i have a cheap one , but i do not know if it will do a self test , and i do not know about the cps , the kid i got the engine from said he drove the truck into his barn to pull the engine

you need a scanner good enough to run a KOEO test.

if you have the CPS off your old truck, you could try that....maybe the guy bashed it when pulling the motor...who knows.

now which is the cps , since cam and crank both start with c
