what current rig do you guys think is most like the broncoII? bolth in style, and preformence. basicly what do you think would be the way to get a "new broncoII"

Nothing. Everything now that would come even close is front wheel drive, and most that are close have gotten further away over the years because people want bigger vehicles.

it would have independent susp in the 4 wheels for sure.
kind of a 2 door explorer.

Yeah the explorer sport 2-door would be as close as you could get I think. I forget when they stopped making those. I test drove a 2002 once.

i think they went up to 03. but im not sure.
they had rear solid axle. but considering the 04+ have irs the 2 door would be the same

IRS came out in everything but the Sport and Sport Trac in 2002.

I would say probably the 2dr JK is about as close as you are going to get, which makes since because the CJ was target compitition for the BII.

i was thinking ether the nissan Xtarra, or the jeep liberty. bolth have the solid rear axle and the IFS with that kinda boxy look like the bronco II. but i do see your point about the jk.

probably a '4 wheel drive' escape, really.

man, escape is the perfect body to build from, sizewise

I think the Dodge nitros look alot like the. If only they had a 2 door.....

There's not much that's worthy of the trails anymore beyond Jeeps if you're staying away from pickup trucks. I'm baffled as to why suv's are more street friendly now..just leave our trucks and suv's alone and buy a damned minivan or something.

I remember an SUV shootout on tv a few years back...the friggin VOLVO beat out the Hummer because it had more cup holders. Like WTF man?! Not even in the same league!

It's because we are, sadly, a very small percent of the market... Honestly though, who would actually buy a new car, even if it was exactly what we want... Who would buy a new car anyway? Why buy new when as soon as you sign papers it depreciates way too much? That point being, why appeal to us when 99% of us won't be giving our money to Ford, etc... I can't say I would buy a new BII even if it was exactly what I wanted... I'd wait and buy one 2-3 years old and used... None of my money would go to Ford, so why should they care what I want?

jeep liberty
its the only one with a solid rear axle and ifs
unless you go foreign but who wants to do that

depends on your definition of "new" i just bought a 95 f350 with 100k on it and i think that it is a new truck! like, i can almost smell the dealership smell mixed with the rubber floor, vynel and diesel! anything newer than 97 that doesnt say "ranger" on the side aint worth buying...

as a general rule of thumb, if you wear loafers and khakis or have a vagina, go ahead and buy something 2000 or newer, enjoy the cupholders and the gps unit, i'll take my road atlas and solid axles, crank windows, manual lockouts and manual transfer case, REAL MANS TRUCK over that pussified shit that they call "suvs/offroad vehicles" any day...

Probably the same thing the Jeep guys where saying when the cushy and domesticated BII came out.

:icon_rofl:

I wear Wolverine work boots and Wranglers and wouldn't trade my '02 F-150 for anything. Had it 5.5 years and haven't had to touch a thing aside from tires and brakes, pulls my tractor like a dream... couldn't ask more from it and it hasn't failed me once. :icon_thumby:
