todays Bronco II

as a general rule of thumb, if you wear loafers and khakis or have a vagina, go ahead and buy something 2000 or newer, enjoy the cupholders and the gps unit, i'll take my road atlas and solid axles, crank windows, manuel lockouts and manuel transfer case, REAL MANS TRUCK over that pussified shit that they call "suvs/offroad vehicles" any day...

You should be reported to ICE for having all those manuel's in your pickup...

depends on your definition of "new" i just bought a 95 f350 with 100k on it and i think that it is a new truck! like, i can almost smell the dealership smell mixed with the rubber floor, vynel and diesel! anything newer than 97 that doesnt say "ranger" on the side aint worth buying...

i wear carrolina steel toe loggers, and carharts, and i dont have a Vagina. but i do want a newer rig for my DD. if Ford desided to re produce the bronco II again i would rather buy it than "the pussified shit" they make now, but thats not gona happen so i gota go with a real world choise. its not going to be taken off road, exept to hunt. i have my bronco for that. is it so bad after a 10 or 12 hour day at work to want to just slide into my rig, sit my fat a$$ in a cumfy seat, put it in drive and go home? and power locks, and keyless entery are simply not an option. they are a must. i keep guns in my rig and i like having an alarm sistem. haveing guns stolen from you just aint good. and the pickup realy aint much of an option for me ether. i got 2 kids, and i aint putting one of them i a jump seat, and a crew cab aint realy a pickup unless its a full size. and im not paying $3+ per gallon to drive a big V8 to work every day. all the above lissted reasons are why im looking for the clossest thing to a new broncoII.

Yeah I would also say get an escape, they are 4 door but about the same size, 4 wheel IFS so its more comfy on the road (also you have much better ground clearence for snow and what not), they used to sell the 4cyl, 5 speed, 4x4 if you get a used one. I was really close to getting one then lifting it a little and throwing 31's under it.

something like this if you wanted to keep some cool factor...

Wow. I always wanted one. Now I really want one. Never seen one like that.

I wanted an escape for a while till I found out they don't have a low range...

while very few of us would buy anything brand new, the fact of the matter is, our input DOES still (or should) influence the car market, the used car buyer will buy from dealerships (one method of influence) also, the used car market, which people like us control for a decent amount, directly influences a vehicle's resale value... if there was a decent vehicle for 4x4ing, and people like us wanted it, it's resale value would be higher, causing people to want to buy it more brand new, because they know the initial depreciation wouldn't be AS much, even though it will always be there... these yuppy pieces of crap will have significantly lower resale value than they could, and the one "SUV" that would fit our needs, which in my mind would be a TJ,(or YJ, which ever it is) could have a used resale value as high as 90% because they have the market control in the "used 4x4/trail worthy 2005+ vehicles" category... new car buyers see this, which make them go well maybe i should buy a tj/yj, which then in turn makes the manufactures go well, maybe we should make one to compete with jeep...

that being said, it doesn't work quite as well in actual practice as it does on paper

haha the escape kinda seemed like the obveas choise. seeing as how its fords current small SUV, and the though realy never left my mind. one of the major reasons for consitering other options was that i thought it looked too socer mom. but that one above dont look socer mom. and nomatter what i get its gona get a lift and some bigger tires. pluss i would weld up a bad ass bumper with a winch mount built in. then it would be real bad ass.:icon_welder::icon_thumby:

Because by the time they get far enough down the line to really qualify as a offroader they are not worth a whole lot (down to the any 4x4 that runs and drives is worth a grand rule of thumb), doesn't matter the make or model. Not many people new truck just to beat on it in the woods.

One of the reasons (and probably the biggest reason) RBV's are as popular as they are for offroading is they are cheap.
