I've noticed in some of my car magazine subscriptions that cigarette adds are sneaking back in.

I'm right now watching the outdoor channel 396 on Dish Network and there was a add for Mint Snuff...:thefinger:

That crap is POISON, saw a story on TV many years ago about a highschooler who used snuff, got mouth cancer, after 3 operations doctors had to remove his entire jaw.

Yeah, so why not start advertising this crap again?

BTW, its been 35 years since I stopped smoking Pall Malls.:icon_thumby:

Ya I've noticed that too, thats funny cuz in the mint snuff commercials they're talking about using it to get people off tobacco.

ooo it has been making me mad seeing that crap in my magazine.....congrats on not smoking for 35 years. proud of you. been 27 years today! well because today is my 27th birthday...wow i am old...and the funny part is i have been on this site since i was 16 and i still spell like i am 5.......done my rant

9 days and I am 27 too. :icon_thumby:

You guys know that you have a voice in this.

Write to the editors, the executives, etc. Tell them that you don't like seeing this stuff in the mags. One voice will go a long way.

Once I complained to CBS about a certain commercial that I saw during Letterman. Didn't see it again for 4 years.

Yeah we have to end the tobacco ads....after all that stuff is bad for you. While we are at it lets stop the beer ads, the McDonalds ads, the candy ads, the soda ads, we should stop all the car ads too since cars contribute to carbon emmisions, and while we are at it can we stop televising sporting events, do you know how many kids get hurt playing sports every year!

I know you're just being a smartass, but a world without commercials sounds okay to me.

There is not a single item on your little list there that is as bad for you as tobacco. It has no positive effects when taken internally. I am speaking from a medical/state of health standpoint, not from the position of someone too weak to get through a day without a chemical boost to their mood.

It is a product that when used AS DIRECTED will eventually cause cancer and death.

Soda in moderation is not going to rot out your teeth or kill you.

McDonalds food will not kill you. If you exercise enough every day you can eat McDonalds every day and not die from it.

You can run 2 miles every day, but if you smoke, you are still gonna damage your lungs.

Cars get us from place to place. Cigs sure don't provide transportation.

Beer, well it's medically proven fact that if you don't drink to excess it will help your health. In fact my father-in-law had a kidney deformity that caused issues with his ability to fully relieve himself. Doc said that his one or two beers a night with dinner actually saved him from kidney disease.

The point here is that tobacco has no useful uses as marketed in its current forms. It is a vice and ONLY a vice.

i started dipping at like 15.. and quit a year ago last week!!! btw, i'm 21. so i dipped for almost 5 years. then just decided to stop-- got tired of it being a habit, and not done for just enjoyment anymore

And I guess the government should control EVERYTHING right? After all they are smarter than us and they know what is best for us. I am not defending tobacco, just their right to advertise. Everything else on my list and then some would all go away if some people had their way. I mean jeez we won't even be able to get good light bulbs anymore. The free market would decide (if we still had a free market) who the winners and losers are. But these days the government decides who the winners and losers are because (according to them) the public at large isn't smart enough to figure it out for themselves. Little by little they are taking away our freedom and liberty and replacing it with tyranny.
