Tobacco adds are back...

me too, some of those certain woman commercials gross me out.....y'all know which ones i mean

The only one that completely grinds my gears at the moment is that asinine Whoopi Goldberg Poise commercial.

I can't stand her on a good day, I damn sure don't want to hear about her pissing herself when she laughs.

And I guess the government should control EVERYTHING right? After all they are smarter than us and they know what is best for us. I am not defending tobacco, just their right to advertise. Everything else on my list and then some would all go away if some people had their way. I mean jeez we won't even be able to get good light bulbs anymore. The free market would decide (if we still had a free market) who the winners and losers are. But these days the government decides who the winners and losers are because (according to them) the public at large isn't smart enough to figure it out for themselves. Little by little they are taking away our freedom and liberty and replacing it with tyranny.

Haven't you heard: 0bama will take care of everything, you won't have to make any more decisions for yourself.

Which is exactly what's happening, thanks to the immeasurably STUPID in this country who believed his hype. :annoyed:

The people themselves do not vote for the president, they merely suggest that another person provide their electoral vote... an individual's own vote doesn't count for shit.

to address the topic of the thread, i think it's a lot more damaging to have a movie start that some kid looks up to smoking in a movie.

maybe big brother will jump on that.

I understand the electoral college. And yes, an individual's vote counts. If it didn't, candidates wouldn't spend millions on their election runs, they'd simply court the delegates.

I am speaking from a medical/state of health standpoint, not from the position of someone too weak to get through a day without a chemical boost to their mood.
I don't know if i'm taking this how you meant, but are you saying that you see people who smoke as weak?

People who have never smoked will never understand those who smoke. I knew what I was doing when I went into the store and bought a carton of cigarettes. I knew I wasn't helping my health. At the same time, smoking also helped me calm down and deal with stress better. It's been about 2 years since I quit, but I feel it helped while I smoked.

It's all a show, a ruse, a play, all put on to persuade... that's it. The individual doesn't matter.

Since the number of smokers and chewers has drastically gone down since advertising has been cut back... I say yes, some people can not figure things out for themselves.

Just as much as if it was a straight majority rules election. What is one person compared to 6.5 million to one canidate and 10.3 million to another?
