Ranger is 2002, 4 door club cab, 4X2 limited slip, 3L., automatic....need tires;
Don't heavy-haul or off-road, so would like a quiet, not-very-aggressive tire.
Suggesstions...?
Thanx....Charlie.

This topic has come up many times. I will only tell you buy good name brand tires like Pirelli, Toyo, Michelin, Good Year, etc. Don't throw your safety and money away on cheapo junko tires like Hankook. I will also please remind you that there is a search button on the site for looking up just this kind of information.

^ What he said. Use the search function. Don't buy cheap crap tires. Safety first, Bro!!

Michellin has some really good tires for general driving. I had a set on a toyota tundra and got 47k out of them and I did a lot of trail driving and gravel and mud with them and they still managed to get me 47,000 miles before I got new tires, probably could have gone another season but got a good deal on some all terrain tires so didn't want to wait. Get good tires, don't get cheap junk tires or you will have nothing but problems.

Thanx guys....
I always steer clear of cheapo tires.....may scrimp otherwhere, but not on the only things between driver and concrete.
Charlie.

I suggest round ones.

If you have a BJ's with an automotive shop in it near you, check them out. Late summer I picked up a nice set of road tires (consumer reports light truck top pick) there for well under the "street price" they (and everyone else) was quoting. Included free rotations and road hazard warranty.

I suggest round ones.

I agree. If you can't find any try and get some that are hexagonal, they're almost as good. Whatever you do, don't get triangular tires. The ride is terrible.

i prefer squares. they eventually turn into round tires but take a while. max speed is like 110 though, anything over that is just unbearable.

what is your tire size and do you want to change it? daily driver or weekend warrior? mudder or all terrain ? would love to help

Yeah, square tires are fine as long as the offset never changes. What happens when you need to do something other than go straight? Also, most vehicles come stock with round wheels, so square tires don't bead up well.

But all that aside I meant round as opposed to D or 0 shaped where it only has one or two flat sides.
