Tires or lift what would you do

Well look at you crazy kids , seems pretty simple to me . A body lift will give extra fender to wheel clearance . After adding bigger tiers your chassis will also gain clearance . If you don't have enough money for a suspension lift , like me , this is a pretty good option . Paka
P. S. hoping to instal bl this weekend

Listen, If your are going to do a body lift, don't just mess around with a measly 3 inch body lift. Do something more like......

Maybe cause a bodylift doesn't give you anything but clearance for bigger tires while putting your center of gravity higher. While a suspension lift & bigger tires give you the capability to clear taller obstacles. A suspension lift puts your cog higher but keeps your mass low so you are less likely to roll.

Wait, something's wrong here. A body lift lifts one thing, the body. A suspension lift raises everything. So which weighs more? The body, or the body plus the frame and entire drive line?

3" BL will keep most of your mass at stock height (plus what ever you add in tires) and because it's only 3" will keep your COG lower than the 4" Suspension lift (minimum available). Given the fairly low weight of the cab and bed (compared to the entire truck) the COG and COM will barely change with a BL.

That's my thoughts. Raise body 3 inches that allows me to run a 6" taller tire, which will also give an additional 3 inches below the axles (or low point on the frame).

A body lift is just as good as the cheapest suspension lift for an SLA 4wd Ranger. The Superlift effectively lowers the lowest point on the frame 3" to retain the stock LCAs, then uses a taller knuckle. Now the more expensive lifts sure they might be worth the extra expense if you have 5K to drop on a suspension lift, but most can't justify the additional cost.

josh, your math on the +3 +6=+3 is correct... theory, though in practice, it doesn't exactly work... remember your tire becomes larger measuring horizontally too, not just height... this is especially important when you turn your wheels...

hey.... you know where this was originally posted... that's not a body lift... that's a chassis drop!

Do you remember the argument the guy who made that truck had with everyone about how it wasn't a body lift?

Oh I know! He thought his truck was hot stuff! Didn't he say that this truck is where he learned his fabrication/welding skills?

I'll give you a hint... It wasn't on this forum...

Oh, and he was SO proud of his box sides! And the bed roll bar, which looked like a 5 year old welded it with a 110 mig

I thought there was one on TRS, but all of the photos got deleted. I'll try to find it.

There was a discussion about the truck on rf, don't remember if it was the original thread though... If you look up the threads I had posted in on there it will come up... Same user name
