Tires or lift what would you do

ive seen enough body mounts punched out and owned a 4x4 so ill say i hate bodylifts. ok for a mall crawler but if you ever really use the truck offroad they fail hardcore

I disagree fully... If you are having that many issues with a body lift, you did it wrong

IM a mall crawler!!!! Awsome. Guess ill stop trying the 5+ trails and stick to pavement. :-)
I had to use a 3in body lift to run 5.0 and a C-6. Well i coulda rebuilt the entire firewall/floorboard.

Body lifts are only for clearing larger tires. No performance upgrade what so ever.

but body lifts are not "unsafe" per say... just don't be stupid with them, get quality stuff..
hard bolts, that "poly" stuff that most of the spacers are made from is some stout stuff, something like it'll hold 5000 pounds per sq inch or something like that..

do i like them? actually, i'd LOVE to do a 1" or 1.25" body lift on my b2. nothing more.
a lot of jeep tj owners use a 1-1.25" body lift so they can do the motor mount lift and tummy tuck, for a flat tummy. the trans and t/case are smooth with the frame rails. i want to attempt the same thing for mine, w/ FULL skids. do i like 3" body lifts? NO, bc it looks like crap IMO... and mine is a DD so i like it to look good to

that's not true! my truck got 35 hp with my body lift, of course it was only effective as of when i put the performance accessories sticker on...

the bII's have a fairly high body (compared to frame) to begin with, my truck's body, especially when off camber, will hit the ground before the frame will, stock, as such, there is an actual functional difference (in addition to larger tires) for a body lift for me

It's not a black and white answer. For some a body lift can be a very functional and usefull mod. For others it is simply cosmetic.

My lift plan includes a suspension lift, a body drop, and a ton of clearance work to the fenders, firewall, tunnel, etc...

My goals are different than most and therefore require different mods.

Body drop? Is your body not sitting flat on the frame?

Es894x4.... you speak from no experience. How does a bodylift fail offroad? Have you ever thought that Probably 25% of the people on here have either a bodylift and/or bodylift+suspension lift?.. me included. They do what they are intended for.

Your body lift will be fine, you will want bigger tires though. And the good thing is you can slowly add suspension lift without having to take off the bodylift.

Maybe cause a bodylift doesn't give you anything but clearance for bigger tires while putting your center of gravity higher. While a suspension lift & bigger tires give you the capability to clear taller obstacles. A suspension lift puts your cog higher but keeps your mass low so you are less likely to roll.

Well said.

I have both suspension(4 inch) and body lifts(3 inch), and if I could do it again, I would ditch the 3" BL and 4" suspension lift, and put on a 6" suspension lift.(A quality lift, not a bargain Rough Country w/ blocks... :dunno:)

Well, I guess laying frame while getting high centered and not crushing your body is not a plus of a bodylift. How the hell does a suspension lift keep your mass low? And btw a 3"bl is not going to make your vehicle roll, your center of gravity will be a tad higher yes, but if keeping your center of gravity low is your MAIN goal, then the only thing you can do is get a sawzall and install 40" tires with no lift..... but even that will make your cog higher. Lifting anything higher is going to put your cog higher! Quit being retards and saying they have no benefits! They also make things so much easier to work on. They also make it easier to install rock sliders. They also allow you to use your stock suspension with bigger tires to its maximum potential. A few people read something in a magazine and you think you know it all. Yes you want to keep your cog as low as possible, but you want to do it by gaining room to articulate and ground clearance . Some people are starting to remind me of jeep people.... wash the sand from your vaginas and grow up.

You dont have to get blocks.

actually, you're better off piecing together your own kit... there is no box kit that is perfect.

and RC does offer new rear leafs :thefinger:
