The little spiral jack that came with my '99 ranger broke. Good thing it happened when I was practicing while changing the spare tire and the car was completely supported with stands etc.
Either way, I was not impressed by the emergency jack supplied by Ford, hence I'm looking for suggestions on something that would fit in the original compartment behind the passenger seat and would be a good replacement.
My bed is open and I got a 2 seater, so very little cab space up front.
Is a bottle jack a good idea? I like them, but I had oil failures on them before and this is a roadside emergency thing, so reliability is key.
Thought about a scissor jack, but not sure what kind of lift I need for a regular non-lifted ranger with stock 14" tires.
Could always check the salvage yard for another telescoping jack, but would like to hear other people's opinions first. Right now I'm lugging a 20 ton house jack around, which is total overkill but all I have.
