With my engine I don't need timing light, right? Or for any newer engine, they are always not having distributor, I'd think.
Have old Sunpro one, was wanting to sell it / trash / whatever. Cleaning out basement.

You are correct, if there is no distributor then there is no way to adjust spark timing manually

But I have used my old timing light a few times to test spark "rhythm" on all spark plug wires
A steady flashing of the strobe vs a missed beat and "misfire"
So used as a diagnostic tool, as needed
 
OK thanks RonD that makes a lot of sense. Guess I'll keep it then!
