Installing in the third timing belt this weekend..'93 ranger 2wd 5 speed with approX 500k...will put tensioner in also..but would it be advisable with that many miles to also replace the crank sensor ??..since we're already there..did the water pump last year when we put that belt on..yea I drive about 100,000 miles per year..thanks

Crank sensors rarely fail, rarely is not never, but they tend to last the life of the engine unless damaged physically.

Up to you really, but one thing to keep in mind.................

"New" used to mean "tested and working"

"New" now means, "YOU test it and we will replace it if it doesn't work"

I'm going to go with "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". It's just a magnetic pickup.

Well, consider that NEW also means: Never Ever Worked ... been asleep in a box since being manufactured, so has been un-working.
"You install it, and run the 'working' test for us, OK?"

If the wires seem to be un-affected by age, no evidence of cracking or failing insulation, leave it be. There are no moving parts, and magnets seem to last.
If you are really concerned, take out your oscilloscope and take a look at the waveform, but I don't think it's worth the time.
