time to do a topend on my 2.8

I think I want hear your engine is running almost as much as you want to hear it run.

Well it`s about fracking time, mine made a ticking noise when I first got it going it was just the rotor touching the cap it went away after about 100 miles. I went ahead and put some ATF in the crankcase when I did the warm up drained it then added some 5-W30 synthetic and a motorcraft filter just to use the filter that was in there to catch the crap. ATF is high detergent and will open all the journals just a half a cup or so will do and dont rev it up too high or too long. then retorqued the manifold and EGR spacer.

i bet no one would guess that my problem was the stock coil.... and i dont even know why. putting in a resistor tomorrow morning :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: too bad i just wasted 92 dollars on a new distributor and all i needed was a 15 dollar coil heck if i knew that i could and would have bought a axcel coil one of the chrome ones to. time for a

hell ya i drove it today.... i went up hills gaining mph where before i was loosing mph...:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo: now the bad part... i need to do a rear main seal i now have oil coming from inside the bellhousing:annoyed:. but its not like it was before. i can live with a few drops when parked instead of the puddles that formed before. next project is oil seal, 2 piece upper neck for t-stat, 4.0 radiator, flowmaster exhaust and tranny flush and cleaning. also soon is a 8.8 d35 combo with 4.10's and 31's:headbang:. im so happy right now:yahoo::yahoo::icon_bounceblue::icon_bounceblue:

the carb dialed in great, still need to idle it down a little bit and lean it out a smidge. took my dad a while to figure out he was turning the dizzy the wrong way. lol he told me that i needed to reset the distributor then i looked and told him that he had it advanced like 30 degrees:D it was funny

I have mine set at 12 dbtdc and either the highest vacuum reading or the highest idle they are both the same on mine for the air fuel. Is you advance ported from the carb or on manifold vacuum

I can`t remember if you have the electric choke but adding the three port vacuum switch will help cold starts by advancing the timing 10 degrees during the warm up cycle

working on the choke later. right now it starts and the choke opens all the way so i can put it off for a while. get the major stuff done now . if you know what i mean.

Take it for a beat with the G/F did you use a stock coil or go aftermarket

i used the stock one after i found out that i bent over the negative terminal. thats why i wasted $115 on a new distributor and coil(for a pinto) oh the olny difference between the bosch style and ford style is the cap and rotor assembly they swap right over. so theres no difference in the main workings of the distributor an i mean none:D btw im running the bosch cap till my motorcraft comes in. im so amped cant wait to go driving tomorrow. my buddy said he felt a major difference in power when he drove it.
