Time for a new clutch. I could use some help

I'm pulling the tranny on my truck today and HOLY **** those top two bolts are insane! I've been trying for hours on the driver's side one and still haven't gotten it. I can get a box wrench on there but not enough force to budge the bolt. WTF are you guys doing that's making this so easy? Are you talking extensions straight back from the bolt??? If so, how long? This is insanely frustrating.

A new flywheel might be a cheap as getting yours resurfaced. I replaced my clutch and didnt replace or resurface the flywheel. Just give a good look and if your not sure take it to the part store and ask for second opinion

from what i gathered if you unbolt the tranny crossmember and let the tranny dop toward the ground you can access the top 2 bolts....someone also said you can access them tough the shifter hole in the cab....

Since it's a 4 cylinder, you needn't disconnect any exhaust.

But, when you drop the tranny cross member from the frame, the tail of the trans will drop. You'll need to disconnect the exhaust hanger from the cross member to get more flex. Once you've got the tail of the trans pointing down, those top two bolts are accessible. You can use a long extension(s) and 13mm socket or get the box end wrench on them, your choice.

It's way too much work to do otherwise, simply not enough room to swing the wrench. I've never accessed them through the top plate. Not worth pulling up carpet to me.

I wouldn't call any of that job "easy". I do use 1/4" drive ratchet/socket on those bolts after they are loose. Makes it quicker and easier to run them out.

If only I had read your reply earlier. haha.

I did manage to get them, though.
