TIL: Today I Learned...

No trips to the mitten until fall.

You better not have got the last set!

I seriously had a pair in my cart.

Today I learned that after you tighten your drill bit into the chuck, click it once, back the other way, Locks the chuck and keeps it fom loosening in reverse

It feels wrong. I’ve been an electrician soooo many years, knowing it’s wrong to pull the wires or cord.

That is how the old connectors roll. No little easy locking tabs.

Oh yes, pull the wires hard so that it lets go violently and you slam both your hands into the sharp surfaces conveniently placed on both sides of said connector. :temper:

There's nothing easy about connectors on my old trucks. Look at them and the locking devices break. But the plugs remain glued in place. But after you're done and plug them back together, they insist on falling aprt.

Today i learned...

Im to old to jump out of my F250s box

this is not a fun thing to find out while doing. i try to keep up on my crash certification on my bicycle ( read as i regularly crash, though not on purpose) and every year it hurts a little more.

I jumped out and it felt like my knee bent backwards. It seems to be ok now (still hurts like a bitch) but ill live.

I fully expect at some point to end up having both ball joints replaced

i was told that i would have to have it done sometime later in life, when i was in high school. was a distance runner my whole life, until the doc said stop now or give up walking, when i was 32ish.

its getting worse because even riding my bike hurts now

Knee replacements have gotten pretty advanced @rusty ol ranger @superj

My mom recently had a knee replacement, after a partial knee replacement 16 years ago. The new way is computer assisted and she walked out of the hospital the same day. Literally walked.

A little related, my FIL has a ceramic and titanium hip. He broke his hip afew years back while he was in the Soviet Union (? or whatever it's called these days) and the closest hospital that would fix him was in Germany. He got the latest and greatest medical attention and a some of the newest "equipment" on the market. His hip has never been better, the rest of him isn't doing so well. He's mid to late 70's and can't bend over or kneel in any fashion and stairs are starting to give him anxiety.

Really? i thought standard procedure was basically cutting out the old one and hammering in a new one

You don’t want to know what I’m learning today. Advanced troubleshooting skills with Siemens PLC’s
View attachment 95848

I was a project engineer and my former employer was heavily invested in Emerson, so I was able to work with DeltaV a fair amount. That's not really PLC and programming was done with function blocks rather than the ladder logic type. I enjoyed working with it. Where I work now they use Rockwell and that looks more like ladder logic and completely foreign to me. I've not messed with it at all though.
